My children and brothers and sisters in Christ, we all want to do and have things, but we may not want to invest the time or resources, and make the sacrifices to achieve our desires. We are willing to take "short cuts". This is will not work if you want to follow Christ. To follow Christ, you must deny your personal preferences and yourselves and take up your cross and follow Him ( Luke 9:23). You may ask what does this mean? I will tell you of my experience. When I turned my life and heart over to Christ, I had to change my life completely to be obedient to Him. I had to separate from my girlfriend of seven years because we were living together without being married. I told her that I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and we can no longer live together unless we are married. I really love her and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, but we both had to live according to Christ. I proposed to her, but she didn't want to be married to me. Next, I knew I had to get rid of some friends and my nightlife. I no longer wanted to live the life I lived before, even if It meant losing all my present friends and lifestyle. It was a lonely time for me, but I knew it was worth it. I am very happy and living a better life than I could have ever imagined. I am serving Christ in ways I could not imagine and for the first time, I am finding fulfillment. I only regret is that I did not do this sooner and wasted so much of my life living in sin and not finding any type of fulfillment. My children, if any of you feel the call to follow Christ and trust Him as your Lord and Savior, go now and do it! Do not waste another second of your life! It is definitely worth all the sacrifices you will make. I know.
