My brothers and sisters in Christ, in the above scriptures, the Israelites were on the verge of entering the land that God had promised their ancestors. Moses commanded 12 tribal leaders to go and spy out the land. When they returned they gave their report to the entire community and brought samples of the fruit grown there. They further reported that the land truly flowed with milk and honey, but it would be impossible to take from the inhabitants there. This caused panic and fear throughout the camp and the congregation wanted to return to Egypt. However, Celeb and Joshua said not to fear because God will be with them and not to rebel against God. Israel was paralyzed with fear. There will be times that God will want us to venture out into the unknown. We might be scared and not want to go forward. We should not be like the Israelites and be paralyzed with fear of that unknown. We have to remember if God tells us to go we can count on him to be with us every step of the way. Knowing this, we can turn our fear into faith in God. As an example, I had gone from job to job and had been laid off many times. God had directed my path into teaching. I left a job that I had security and ventured into the unknown career of teaching. I even had to leave my family behind and take a position in Bakersfield. We, as a family, had a lot of anxieties and fear. Well, we kept our faith in God and he brought us through this and now I have a good career and we are happy as ever. We turn our fear into faith in God.
