My dearly beloved children and brothers and sisters in Christ, anger is a natural emotion. Even God displayed anger through out the Bible. However, anger that goes unchecked can become the devil's playground. Satan will use this avenue to create destruction and death. Anger can come from many sources, from a bad day at work, envy, suffering, gossip, insults, mistreatment, etc. Anger is a killer. Research has proven that emotions such as anger and hostility trigger your "fight or flight” response. Stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, will speed up your heart rate and breathing. You become tense due to a sudden energy burst. Your blood vessels tighten and your blood pressure soars. You’re ready to run for your life or fight an enemy. If this happens often, it causes wear and tear on your artery walls. In addition, the more you hold this anger in, the worst your health becomes because of the stress it will create. However, there is a biblical way to deal with anger. Paul told the Ephesians not to sin in their anger and not to let the sun go down in their anger (Ephesians 4:26). We are instructed how to react to anger and you are given a time limit to resolve it. You are even instructed to confront the person, not in anger, but in love (Ephesians 4:15). In conclusion, instead of holding your anger, give it to God and He will help "tame the flames" of your anger. Lean on his power of forgiveness and love to restore the relationship destroyed by anger.
