I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries. Today's devotion is titled "A Prayer of Forgiveness" The scripture is from Luke 6:27–36 with key verse being "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" Luke 6:27–28. David C. McCasland wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words. He is the sole source of my writing. All the credit goes to God, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I just read about Ruby Bridges. What a brave and loving person! In 1960 she was the first Afro-American to integrate an all-white school in the South. Instead of being welcomed, She was insulted and threatened by the white parents. These parents went as far as to withdraw their children from the school because Ruby went there. Ruby prayed for these parents every day. She showed no hate or remorse. I face the same situation in Lexington, Missouri. I was not as loving or forgiving. The white children told me to "go home n.....". I responded by beating both the boys up, bloodying their noses and mouths. After the principal talked to our parents and us, we became close friends. What I did was wrong. What she did was Christ-like.
