I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries. Today's devotion is titled "The “Chewing” Years" The scripture is from 1 Peter 2:1–11 with key verse being "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled" Matthew 5:6. James Banks wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words. He is the sole source of my writing. All the credit goes to God, not to me. I am only his humble servant. When I started my career in teaching God lead me to take a teaching position in Bakersfield, CA. I was nearly 200 miles from home. I thank God for presenting me with the opportunity to be a teacher. My principal told me that right now I was at the embryo stage of teaching. As I begin my life as a Christian, I can relate to what The Apostle Peter is saying. We are at the stage that we crave solid spiritual food, but not yet ready until we get our permanent "spiritual teeth". We are at "the chewing stage of our spiritual lives. We have to call upon our Heavenly Father to watch over what we "spiritually" consume. We need to fill ourselves daily with God’s Word and truth if we are to thrive as followers of Christ. Only then can we grow to maturity in Him.
