I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, www.odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “An Anchor When We’re Afraid” The scripture is from Isaiah 51:12–16 with key verse being “I, even I, am he who comforts you” Isaiah 51:12. Adam Holz wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words. He is the sole source of my writing. All the credit goes to God, not to me. I am only his humble servant. This devotion, like others, is about taking comfort under the shadow of God's hand. We read and hear bad news from all sources and our fears mount. For me, I compare our government to the Babylonian Empire as the oppressor that is trying to take away all our gains as a country and bring everyone to under their "thumb." However, I will remember Isaiah 51:12 and take comfort that God, as He encourages us to see our difficulties in light of who God is and what He can do.
Lord, sometimes the struggles I face in life seem so big. But You are bigger. Help me to cling to Your promise of comfort in fearful moments and to experience Your loving provision as I trust You.
May God bless all of you.
