I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, www.odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “When the Bottom Drops Out" The scripture is from 1 Kings 17:15–24 with key verse being “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” Hebrews 4:16. Poh Fang Chia wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words. He is the sole source of my writing. All the credit goes to God, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I can relate to this devotion. First, the bottom will fall out, that is for sure. We are living in a fallen world. We were as desperate as the widow mentioned in 1 Kings 17. My wife's job was steady, but every job I worked ended with the owner stealing money or the business going bankrupt. I was out of work so long that I ran out of unemployment compensation. We cried out to God, and He worked with our landlord's heart to adjust our rent. Next, God lead me to employment with a good family oriented company. Finally, I attained my teaching credential, and I have an excellent teaching career. God is good in good times and bad.
May God bless you and as He blessed us.
