I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “A Prayer to Point Us Home" The scripture is from Luke 23:44–48 with the key verse, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12. James Banks wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words. He is the sole source of my writing. All the credit goes to God, not to me. I am only his humble servant. There are many prayers that point to The Cross. In this devotion, the author talked about a prayer that points to Heaven. Jesus last words were, "Father into your hands I commit my Spirit", (Luke 23:46). When Jesus said those words before His death, He demonstrated His intimate relationship with the Father and pointed believers toward their home with Him. It is comforting to know that because of Jesus’s sacrificial love for us, we can rest in God’s care as His children. How about trying this bedtime prayer, Now I lay me down to sleep, my soul I commit to you to keep.
Lord Jesus, we receive the gift of forgiveness You offer us through the cross. Help us to turn from our sins and follow You, all the way home.
A bright new morning awaits us in Jesus.
God bless and keep you.
