The Love Song

I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Catching Foxes” The scripture is from Song of Solomon 2:14–17 with the key verse, “Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards.” Song of Solomon 2:15. Amy Boucher Pye wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He lead me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. I am unsure between Song of Solomon as a love story between two people or a love song between Jesus and The Church. Whichever is true, one thing the story has in common is the foxes. They are portrayed as critters out to destroy relationships. Together husband and wife wield out “the foxes” (2:15), removing anything that threatens their loving union or hurts the exclusivity of their marriage. The point is not to let anything come between you and your love for Jesus.

Lord God, You are powerful, and You are good. Please protect our relationships with You, keeping out anything that would take our eyes off You.

May God bless and guard your relationship with Him.
