I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Dad at the Dentist” The scripture is from Matthew 26:36–39 with the key verse, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39. Adam Holz wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. This devotion shows Jesus human side. He and his disciples are in the garden of Gethsemane with his closest friends. While there, Jesus asked his Father to if He can avoid the crucifixion desertion of his friends and his own Heavenly Father. His Heavenly Father said no. The Father’s heart broke to see His beloved Son in such agony! There was no other way to save His people. There will be times when we experience unpleasant events. But because of Jesus’s work for us through His Spirit, even in our darkest moments, our loving heavenly Father is always present with us.
Father, thank You for loving us so much that You sent Your beloved Son to save us, even though it must have broken Your heart to do so. In our times of joy or pain, thank You for Your Spirit holding and carrying us.
My God bless and be with you through your darkest moments.
