Confidence in Promises

I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “Confident Hope” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Philippians 1:19–26 with the key verse, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21. Randy Kilgore wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. Paul’s writing reflects a deep devotion we can aspire to as followers of Jesus, enabling us to face trials and even danger for His sake. Overseas Christians work for Christ in more dangerous circumstances than we do in the states. In many places, missioners are imprisoned or killed. Why do they continue? I believe one reason is their devotion, and belief in what Christ has promised; when their lives and work end, they have the joy of eternity with Jesus ahead of them. I asked that we keep our overseas brothers and sisters in Christ in our prayers.

Make all of us, Father, willing servants in times of weakness and times of strength.

May God bless and make you willing servants for all times.
