I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “The Great Awakening” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Deuteronomy 34:1–8 with the key verse, “God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14. David H. Roper wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. The comments by David H. Roper reminded me of the times we spent with friends and family. We would eat and play Spades throughout the night while our children slept. When we finished, I carried them to the car, lay them in the back seat, and take them home. When we arrived, I would pick them up again, tuck them into their beds. In the morning they awaken at home. When I did this routine most of my life, I never thought how these can relate to what will happen upon Christ's return. When we die (fall asleep), we will be carried by God and awake (for an eternity) in our new home in Heaven.
Heavenly Father, because Your arms carry us, we can sleep in peace.
May God bless and may you wake for an eternity in your new home in God's Kingdom.
