I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “New Year, New Priorities” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Ecclesiastes 9:4–12 with the key verse, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” Ecclesiastes 9:10. Poh Fang Chia wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. This devotion and article is a good way to start the new year. Ecclesiastes is a book about the futility of life in a broken world. However, Solomon instructs us to live and the enjoy the life God gave us. Also, to work diligently because life is full of opportunities, and there is always more work to be done. He wants us to take advantage of the opportunities God gives us, and seek His wisdom on how to prioritize work and play in a way that uses our gifts to serve Him. Life is a wonderful gift from the Lord. We honor Him when we take pleasure both in His daily blessings and in meaningful service.
Father, thank You for this life You’ve given me. Help me to live this new year for You, enjoying Your blessings and fulfilling Your purposes.
May God bless you and may you live this new year for God, enjoying His blessings and fulfilling His purposes.
