I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “An Ordinary Man” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from 1 Samuel 16:1–7 with the key verse, “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. ” 1 Samuel 16:7. Estera Pirosca Escobar wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. This devotion reminds me of a time when I was mistaken for my school's maintenance worker. My outward appearance didn't meet his expectation of what a teacher looks like. He was surprised and embarrassed to find out he was substituting for me. God never judges a person by their outward appearance. He looks in their hearts. We need to do the same. How comforting to know that the Lord knows our hearts and has His plans for us.
Dear Lord, thank You that You care more about my heart’s attitude toward You than my outward beauty, possessions, or achievements.
May God bless you, and look at others through God's eyes.
