II start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “Our Welcoming God” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Acts 10:34–38 (NIV) with the key verse, “God does not show favoritism", Acts 10:34. Winn Collier wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. I grew up in Missouri which came into the union as a slave state. During the '50s and '60s, times were hard and hostile if you were black. Everything was segregated from churches to schools, to restaurants, to recreation and transportation. I remember the first day I attended the first integrated school in my town. I got into a fight. I was the only black student in my grade. I understand exactly how Elva felt, and like her, I persevered. Today many people of our society deny the truth that every human being, regardless of race or heritage, is loved by God. They are wrong and as Christians, we can not allow and oppose such ideas. God opens His arms wide to extend love to everyone. May we do the same in His power. in His power.
Insight:
Consider your neighborhood, your family, and your social sphere. Where do you find a temptation to exclude others? Why?
Lord God, please open the eyes of our government leaders that your arms are open to everyone.
May God bless you and keep you in His truth.
