I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “Trying to Impress” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Matthew 15:1–11, 16–20 with the key verse, “Out of the heart come evil thoughts . . . . These are what defile a person." Matthew 15:19–20. Tim Gustafson wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. The subject here is about appearance. No one wants to look bad, even in their walk with God. The problem is that God is not interested in your outward appearance, he is looking at our hearts, that is what is important to God.

Lord, we are so prone to rely on our own efforts to impress You and others. Help us to be authentic in all our relationships, and to enjoy the restored heart we can have through Your forgiveness.

May God bless you and help you to be authentic in all your relationships, and to enjoy the restored heart you can have through His forgiveness.
