wp:paragraph I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “Moves of the Heart” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from Numbers 9:15–23 with the key verse, “Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped." Numbers 9:17. Mart DeHaan wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. I found it astounding that the average American moved around 12 times in a lifetime. There are many reasons that we move; the military, new job, cost of living, disasters, or seasonal changes. In some countries people move more often, some for different reasons. The Israelites moved from Egypt, from slavery and prosecution, to a land promised to them by God. In this land He promised to care for them and they will prosper. There is another type of relocation that is more important. It is called a heart move. This is when your heart changes residence from darkness to light through Jesus Christ. Like changes of address, such moves of the heart are unsettling. But someday, from a window in our Father’s house, we’ll see that Jesus led us all the way.

In what ways does choosing to follow God unsettle you? How might prayer help to strengthen your faith and trust in Him?

May God bless you and may prayer help to strengthen your faith and trust in God.
