The Dangers of Comparing and Envy

I start every morning and evening with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. “No Comparison” is the title of today’s devotion. The scripture is from John 21:17–25, with the key verse, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30. James Banks wrote this devotion. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, before I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. Envy is hazardous to your health, specially comparing ourselves with others. It is a sure recipe for unhappiness and disasters. Peter was comparing himself to John. Jesus reprimanded Peter telling him not to worry about John and focus on following Him (Jesus). This is the only true way to defeat envy. When our minds are focused on Jesus and all He’s done for us, self-focused thoughts fade away and we long to follow Jesus.

How can you use social media in a God-honoring way? How can a real relationship with God keep you from making unhealthy comparisons? Pray for guidance. Man god bless you, and lead you to use social media in a God-honoring way.
