I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Servant’s Heart” The scripture is from Mark 9:33–37 with the key verse, " Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all", Mark 9:35. Lisa M. Samra wrote this devotion. My beloved children, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as a base for comments. Stay-at-home moms should earn a $162,000 salary, according to several surveys. No one has a heart of a servant as a stay-at-home-mom. I was once told by a Christian Principal that I had a servant's heart. That was one of the greatest compliments I had ever received. After the disciples argued who should be first in God's Kingdom, Jesus called his disciples and told them to be first in the His kingdom they must be the very last with a servant's heart. Christ’s response resets the bar for what greatness looks like in His kingdom. His standard is a heart willing to care for others. If you have opportunities to serve in your family or community, be encouraged that Jesus greatly values the time and effort you give in service to others.
Reflect:
How might you serve someone today? How could you take time to say “thank you” to someone who has graciously loved and served you? Prayer: Jesus, thank You for reminding us of Your loving care for children and any who are vulnerable. Help us to follow Your example of service.
May God bless you and remind you of your loving care for children and any who are vulnerable.. Our Daily Bread Ministries (2019, Aug. 23). Servant’s Heart, Lisa M. Samra, retrieved from www.odb.org/2019/23/08/ Servant’s Heart.
