I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Don’t Forget the Giver” The scripture is from Deuteronomy 6:4–12 with the key verse, “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord” Deuteronomy 6:12. John Blase wrote this devotion. My beloved children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as an inspiration for my comments. The Christmas Holidays are upon us. During this season it is easy to forget about God and what He has done in our lives. We are wrapped up in the season, but forget the reason. Moses warn the Israelites of the same thing. They were liberated from the harsh rule of the Egyptians and now they stand ready to enter the land promised to Abraham. It was truly a time of celebration, but Moses reminded them not to forget who got them there. Moses told them to worship God and follow his laws. He commanded them to fix these words in their hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on their hands and bind them on their foreheads. Teach them to their children, talking about them when they sit at home and when walking along the road, when they lie down and when they get up. Write them on the door frames of their houses and on their gates. Leviticus 11:18-20. We need to do the same. Let us not forget our giver, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He gave us Eternal life through His sacrificial death. Reflect: Can you name five blessings in your life? Why are you grateful for them? How will you thank God for them today? Prayer: Loving Father, You are the source of every blessing in our lives. In our pride we often imagine otherwise, but we know better. We do. Thank You for all Your gifts. May God bless you and remember the blessings and gifts God gave us.
