I start every morning with coffee and God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread Ministries, https://odb.org. Today’s devotion is titled “Prompted to Pray” The scripture is from 1Timothy 2:1–8 with the key verse, “I constantly remember you in my prayers” 2 Timothy 1:3. James Banks wrote this devotion. My beloved children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words, so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be the sole source of my writing, so all the credit goes to Him, not to me. I am only his humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as an inspiration for my comments. I can understand Timothy when Paul urged him to lead his followers to pray for all people, especially those who were in authority over them. That would mean praying for the leaders of the Roman Empire. I am no fan of our present president. As a Christian I have issues with his attitude and behavior towards people of color, different ethnicity and his huge support of such hate groups as the White Nationalist, White Supremacist, Neo-Nazis and others. However, our present president is also made in the image of God and is an authority. As a Christian I pray that he be led by the Holy Spirit from darkness into the light of God's saving grace. Creating a new person in him. Ask yourself the questions below. Then pray the following prayer.
Reflect:
Who comes to mind that needs your prayers in this new year? How can you remind yourself to pray for them often?
Prayer:
Loving God, please help me to pray often and to make a lasting difference in others’ lives through my intercession for them.
May God bless you and help you to pray often to make a lasting difference in someone's life through your intercession for them.
