I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Surrendering All.” Amy Boucher Pye wrote this devotion. The scripture is from Mark 10:26–31, with the key verse, “Then Peter spoke up, ‘We have left everything to follow you!’”, Mark 10:28. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I pray first to God to guide my words so that it may serve as spiritual food and guidance. I want God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am His humble servant. I thank God that He led me to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for my comments.
Like the young ruler in Mark 10:17–25, the prospect of giving up your worldly possessions to follow Jesus is daunting. I bulked at the possibility of giving up my present earthly things.
What I take away is that Jesus wants us to put Him first in our lives and hearts. We surrender all, in trust and faith, and do what He commands. No matter where God has placed us, we’re called to daily surrender our lives to Christ, obeying His gentle call to follow Him and serve Him with our talents and resources—whether in the home, office, community, or far from home.
Reflect:
Did you ever get a “feeling” that you can do something better with your life? It may be God calling.
Prayer:
Lord, we know at times we feel lost and confused about what to do with our lives. I call upon you to help sort out our lives. We put my total trust in you.
May God bless you and help you sort out your life.
