I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Eternal Eyes.” Estera Pirosca Escobar wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 2 Corinthians 4:7–18 with the key verse, “We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.”, 2 Corinthians 4:18. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words so that it will serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of wiring. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
Our country is going through a lot of turmoil. There is the Corona virus and social upheaval. It is so easy to become near-sighted, consumed with the present world. The Apostle Paul says we need to be far-sighted, to see what God has for those who are in Christ. The apostle Paul and his co-workers experienced great suffering at the hands of persecutors and even from believers who tried to discredit them. Yet, they had their eyes fixed on eternity.
While we do God’s work, and our world around us feels shaky. We turn our eyes to God, the eternal Rock, who promises us a better life to come.
Reflect:
In what do you choose to hope in despite your difficulties? How have you experienced God’s faithfulness?
Prayer:
We lift our eyes to You today, O God. Give us a glimpse of the security we have in You.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and Give you a glimpse of security He has in you
