I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Underestimating Ourselves.” Glenn Packiam wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 1 Samuel 15:10–18 with the key verse, “Samuel said, ‘Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel.’”, 1 Samuel 15:17. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words so that it will serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of wiring. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

Saul saw himself small in his eyes. He forgot that he was made in God’s image to reflect his rule. This led him to abuse his authority to please everyone. End the end, he lost his kingdom.

Just like Saul, we can forget that we are made in God’s image to reflect His rule. As a result, we abuse our authority to spread destruction throughout, instead of making things better.

The only way to correct our actions is to return to God. Let the Father define us by His love, to let Him fill us with the Spirit, and to let Jesus send us out into the world.

Reflect:

What assignment has God given you that you do not think you have the power to do? Why is it vital to have your identity based in what God says is true?

Prayer:

Dear Father, give me eyes to see myself as You see me, and grant me the grace to faithfully carry out the calling You have entrusted to me.

My Prayer for You:

May God bless and give you eyes to see yourself as God sees you, grant you the grace to faithfully carry out His calling.
