I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Love Passed Down.” Amy Peterson wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 2 Timothy 1:1–8, 2 Timothy 1:13–14 with the key verse, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and . . . now lives in you”, 2 Timothy 1:5. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words so that it will serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of wiring. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
This is my story how our faith was passed down. My maternal grandmother married a minister. She became saved by him and she was the music minister. She passed to me the teachings of the gospel. My mother prayed for me and I attended her church. Mario and Emma presented the gospel to me. I became saved and introduce my wife, Rodora, to the Good news of God’s love for her. She gave her life to Christ. We passed Christ’s teachings to our Children and they gave their lives to Jesus. Rodora’s Mom came to live with us, and she gave her life to Christ.
Those who don’t have families to pass down faith can still find parents and grandparents in the church who will help us figure out how to live a holy life, and to embrace the gifts God has given us of power, love and self-discipline. Truly, we all have a beautiful inheritance.
Reflect:
What are some things you have learned from fathers or mothers in the faith? How are you working to pass down a legacy of faith to your children or those in your church?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me by grace through faith in Jesus. Help me to pass down to the next generation the gifts I have received and the truth of the gospel.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless and help you pass down to the next generation the gifts you have received and the truth of the gospel.
