I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Simply Ask.” Patricia Raybon wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 2 Kings 5:9–14 with the key verse, “Before they call I will answer”, Isaiah 65:24. My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, all that I write, I first pray to God to guide my words so that it will serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.
From my perception, there are people who have a gift for prayer. I am not one of them. When I am in a group, I shy away from praying. I believed that when you prayed to God, it had to be filled with special words or phrases. I know that some of you feel the same way. After reading this devotion, I understand that God wants a simple prayer or request. God does not require complicated questions or prayers from us to help. So today, simply ask Him.
Reflect:
How complex are your prayer requests? What life problem can you offer to God in a simple prayer?
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, when life feels complicated and difficult, thank You for Your promise to hear even my simple prayers.
My Prayer for You:
May God bless you and hear your simple prayers.
