I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today’s devotion is titled “Day of Encouragement.” Estera Pirosca Escobar wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from 1 Thessalonians 5:12–28; with the key verse, “We urge you, brothers and sisters, . . . encourage the disheartened.”, 1 Thessalonians 5:14. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

I always pray that God brings someone for whom I can encourage and pray. Here is one of my stories.

I was on the way to play tennis. As I got out of my car, a woman with a baby carriage passes by. The holy spirit prompted me to start a conversation with her. She told me about some issues she was having in her family. I asked if I could pray for her. We prayed that God brings resolution to the problems in her household. I encouraged her that these problems were now God’s problems.

We all need uplifting, and we need to do the same for those around us, but we can’t do it on our own. God is faithful to help us help others.

Reflect:

How can a word of encouragement keep despair away? Who can you encourage today?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for the encouragement You give me each day. Show me who I need to encourage as well.

My Prayer for You:

I pray that The Father will encourage you each day and lead you to pray for others.
