Promise-Keeper

I start every morning with coffee with God through daily devotions from Our Daily Bread. Today's devotion is titled "Promise-Keeper." Arthur Jackson wrote this devotion. The scripture reading is from Hebrews 6:13–20, with the key verse, "After waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.", Hebrews 6:15. My beloved children, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, brothers, and sisters in Christ; for all I write, I first pray to God to guide my words to serve as spiritual food and guidance. I desire God to be my sole source of writing. All the credit goes to God, not me. I am his humble servant. I thank God that He led to use Our Daily Bread Ministries as my inspiration for comments.

As a non-Christian, I met any promises made by people or God with doubtfulness and suspensions. My life was filled with empty promises and catches like; "If I scratch your back, I will scratch yours."

As A Christian, I get impatient with God and wonder if He will keep His promises. However, I learned to be patient, like Abraham, because God never lies. In due time, God keeps His promises according to His wisdom. For me, I struggled to keep my commitments to fulfill my pledges and vows. I many times broke promises with my wife and children and other people. When I realize what is going on, I immediately turn to God for help.

God promises to help us: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2Corinthians 12:9. Why not trust Him to help you?

Prayer:

God, thank You for being faithful in Your commitments to me. Help me to be faithful in my commitments to You and others.

I pray that God will be faithful in His commitments to you and help you be faithful in your obligations to Him and others.
